9/1/2015: Defend the Bay at the San Francisco Bay Gala - James Bond-Style

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – September 1, 2015
– Your mission, should you choose to accept it: don your best tuxedo, cocktail dress, and spy gear for this year’s annual San Francisco Bay Gala, a black-tie event to aid Aquarium of the Bay and The Bay Institute in protecting, restoring, and inspiring conservation of San Francisco Bay and its watershed, from the Sierra to the sea.
Held at Aquarium of the Bay on October 1, 2015, this critical mission will transport you under the Bay, where you will be surrounded by sharks, bat rays, swirling schools of anchovies, and other aquatic life local to San Francisco. Here, you will enjoy a memorable evening of shaken martinis, live music, and sustainable hors d’oeuvres from some of the finest Bay Area Sustainable Seafood Alliance restaurants.
Upon entrance into the facility, you will be greeted by your allies – over 500 of the top environmental, civic, and philanthropic leaders in the Bay Area. Together, you can help Aquarium of the Bay and The Bay Institute combat top ocean enemies, like climate change, ocean acidification, plastic pollution, and more. The fate of our precious natural resources is at stake.
Among your allies for the evening is local figure skater Brian Boitano. Olympic gold-medalist and Bay Area native, Boitano will host a VIP dinner prior to the main event on the patio outside of the Aquarium, where the majestic San Francisco Bay and glistening city lights will act as an exquisite backdrop.
Leading the charge in the ocean’s protection is legendary ocean explorer and honoree, Dr. Sylvia Earle. National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence and noted ocean advocate and conservationist, Dr. Earle has been fighting on behalf of the ocean for more than 50 years, and has been instrumental in securing vital ocean protections and inspiring conservation of its ecosystems.
The San Francisco Bay Gala is the largest fundraiser in The Bay Institute and Aquarium of the Bay’s calendar. Your support of the San Francisco Bay Gala will help increase our impact as we continue to work defending San Francisco Bay and its watershed. Together, we are measurably improving the health of the Bay and empowering those who live, work, and visit the Bay Area.
Together, we are Agents of the Bay.
